A Civil War Ends
Anyone who has followed the stories surrounding the Sri Lanka civil war over the past month (or have been reading The Weekly Post) knows that the end of the 26 year old conflict was filled with immense brutality. Tamil Tiger rebels and refugees had fled to an agreed upon ‘safe zone’ and Sri Lankan military agreed to stop heavy fire into the area as of April 27th. However, a report from the Times of London, a news outlet that has been closely following the fighting, sites expert and eyewitness testimonies that allege that an average of a thousand civilians were killed by Sri Lankan heavy artillery every day in May up until the war effectively ended when Tamil Tiger rebel leader Velupillai Prabhakaran was killed. Author’s Note: BotB hopes that everyone had a safe and happy Easter holiday. This week’s Post comes to us a little later than normal due to family obligations. Unfortunately, on the world stage, this week was anything but peaceful or safe.

Author’s Note:This week’s Post (I’m having trouble with my own terminology as I chose the name of the feature because of Post’s military and blogosphere double meaning, so suggest a new name and we’ll think about it), we see a continuation of the North Korea saga, once again full of bilge. The week had enough military based stories that we didn’t need to explore other topics. But because the week of April Fools, we’ll examine the history of the unofficial holiday from reality in a feature article later this week.
